WW2 I.R.70 Casualty Grouping.
Wehrpass, award certificate and correspondence grouping to Uffz.Hermann Wille of I.R.70. Wille was killed after being hit in the chest by a shell splinter on 26.09.42 south of Mosdok am Terek.in the Caucasus. This occurred in operations undertaken in Operation Edelweiß and almost at the highpoint of the German advance in this area with Kleist's 1st Army.
Grouping consists of a well filled Wehrpass showing the 24 year old Wille to be a veteran of operations in France and extensive operations during the invasion of the Soviet Union. He was extensively decorated and the grouping comes with certificates for the Westwall Medal, two for the wound badge in black, Infantry Assault badge in silver and both the EKII and EKI. There is also a number of official and unofficial correspondence both from Wille to his family and from officers and fellow soldiers telling of his death.
