WWII No.36M Mk I Instructional Hand Grenade. This grenade was manufactured exactly as normal but was rendered into an instructional item by the simple expedient of drilling six holes to the body and often pained white to avoid confusion. I suspect this example has been souvenired from the manufacturer as the body marked ' J.P.& S.' ( Josiah Parkes & Sons, Willenhall Staffordshire.) still retains areas of the original lacquer finish. All parts present with a 1943 dated base plug by ' T.A & S.' ( T. Ashead & Sons. Dudley Worcestershire.)
