French Model 1866 or Chassepot bayonet.

An excellent example of this classic bayonet designed to accompany the French Chassepot rifle. Brass hilted with steel fittings and a steel yataghan blade with accompanying steel scabbard with matching numbers to bayonet and scabbard. Inscribed to top of blade indicating manufacture at Chatellerault in 1874 with numerous inspection stamps to blade and quillion. Excellent, bright, clean condition.
