Crowned star mounted with laurel wreath and Garter, the black velvet centre bearing in silver a the Duke of Wellington's family crest and motto, Virtutis Fortuna Comes,. Mounted on the base of the wreath, a silver tri-part scroll inscribed ' The West Riding Regiment'. A good example of an early WW2 German marching compass, constructed of phenolic with brass cover. The compass opens to reveal a mirrored lift up window which reflects the compass rose and allows alignment with a blade sight. A fine scarce die cast, hallmarked silver example of an RAC Officers' cap badge, bearing Birmingham marks for 1941 (R) . two silver loops to the reverse, third loop does not appear to have been fitted. Makers stamp J.R.G.&S. (J.R.Gaunt & Sons). Good overall condition, patinated.  read more
