This example was presented to the family of 16203 L/Cpl.John, Leon Herbert who was killed aged 32 on 23/10/42. Original WW1 British No 80 MkI Drill fuze, an example of a time and percussion fuze usually used with the British shrapnel projectiles of 18-pounder Field-Guns. Unusually, as No.80 fuzes are not uncommon, this is an official DRILL example manufactured by Royal Laboratories with alloy nose cap marked ' DRILL ' with felt washers between each stage.
